Australian Bass Lures

Australian Bass are the ultimate pound-for-pound freshwater brawlers. Whether you’re "surface walking" a creek in the shadows or jigging deep in an impoundment like Somerset or Blue Rock, your lure needs to trigger an instinctive reaction strike.

Australian Bass Lure FAQs

The "Low Light" periods of dawn and dusk are prime time. This is when Bass move to the surface to feed. Use the Ripple Cicada or Smuggler during these windows. During the day, Bass move deeper into structure; switch to a Mudeye or Curly Prawn to find them in the shadows.

It's not essential, but it is a good choice, especially when fishing "The Tight Stuff." Bass love heavy snags and lily pads. Using a weedless-rigged Flexi Frog or Mudbug allows you to cast directly into the heart of the cover where the biggest Bass hide without fear of snagging.

In clear mountain streams, use "Natural" or "Ghost" patterns that mimic real insects and baitfish. In darker impoundment water, "Black/Glow" or "High-Contrast Chartreuse" patterns, like those found in our Drunken Mullet Jnr range, help the Bass track the lure through the lateral line and silhouette.
